Yara and Mosaic have agreed a benchmark price of $645 per tonne CFR Tampa for November ammonia deliveries, a $95 increase on the October settlement. The Tampa contract is widely used as a global reference point for ammonia pricing across nitrogen fertiliser markets.
The sharp month-on-month increase points to tightening supply or stronger downstream demand heading into the northern hemisphere application season. Ammonia is a key feedstock for urea, UAN and other nitrogen fertiliser products, so higher contract values typically flow through to broader nitrogen pricing.
For buyers and traders, the increase raises input costs for nitrogen fertiliser producers and may prompt upward revisions to urea and UAN price expectations in the near term. Counterparties with exposure to ammonia-linked contracts should reassess hedging positions given the scale of the month-on-month move.
