Clear City is Africa's first next-generation megacity, being developed as part of the South Africa: A New Civilization (SANC) program—an international initiative to create a technological, economic, and cultural hub on the continent's east coast.
The project is being implemented on the Indian Ocean coast, between Port Shepstone and Port St. John's, as part of the government's Eastern Seaboard Development Region (ESDR) program. It combines a free economic zone, a digital economy, sustainable development, and a strategic partnership between South Africa, the Emirates, and global investors.
The program aims to create a technological, economic, and cultural capital of Africa on the east coast of South Africa.
The total area of the project is 200,000 hectares. By 2055, the megacity's population will reach 5 million.
The creation of an international financial platform and the attraction of global investors through the establishment of banking institutions, investment funds, and exchanges, the organization of an effective transport and logistics infrastructure, including seaports and airports, and the provision of tax support and favorable conditions for business in the free trade zone.
Implementing sustainable development concepts through the introduction of green technologies, alternative energy sources (solar panels, wind turbines), digitalization of city management, and reducing environmental impacts. This will ensure efficient use of resources, environmental monitoring, and comfortable interaction between citizens and government authorities.
The project's goal is to create a new megacity, Clear City, with a population of 5 million by 2055, becoming a hub for high-tech industries, an international financial center, and a model for the harmony of technology, ecology, and living. To achieve this goal, it is planned to develop infrastructure that will create over 2 million jobs, ensure high standards of quality of life and environmental sustainability, and transform the city into a leading industrial and technological hub on the continent.
